The Savage 520 was part of a series of utility-grade shotguns made by Stevens. Others in the series were the Model 67, Model 67-VR, Model 77, Model 77-AC, Model 77-M, Model 77-SC, Model 520, Model 522, Model 621, Model 620, and Model 820. They are all based on 2 Browning patients and many were used as trench guns during the First World War.
