  • 1917Joseph Huot, an engineer from Richmond, Quebec, files Canadian patent #193725 for his modification of the Ross rifle.
  • 1993 — The New York Times publishes "High-Tech Death From Winchester," regurgitating gun grabber propaganda that the Black Talon cartridges manufactured by Winchester were somehow armor-piercing "cop killers;" supposedly due to their black "Teflon" coating (actually a substance called Lubalox). The round was in fact entirely unsuited to such a purpose, having difficulty penetrating even soft body armor.
  • 2008 — The HK416 and FN SCAR are among the weapons displayed to U.S. Army officials during an invitation-only Industry Day. The goal of the Industry Day was to review current carbine technology prior to writing formal requirements for a future replacement for the M4 carbine.
