File:S&W 40 LoadTables.PNG
Summary
Screen shot of .40 S&W reloading tables for 4" barrels from Hodgdon's reloading tables. Source data can be found in Hodgdon/IMR/Winchester hand loading tables.[1] Note that Longshot and High Skor 800-X are slow burning powders which produce very high velocities WITHOUT producing high pressures. In fact 800-X is produces the lowest pressures of any of the listed powders while at the same time producing the highest velocities. For reference, the Beretta M9/92/96 pistols have a 4.9" barrel and will produce slightly more velocity than these 4" barrel figures indicate.
The purpose of this exhibit is to validate claims made on the .40 S&W page about cartridge velocities, bullet weights, and energy levels. Please be aware that CUP and PSI are different pressure scales which require conversion for comparison.
