2011 — Once again disproving the lies that "registration doesn't lead to confiscation," the RCMP sends out extortion letters to Canadian owners of the previously non-restricted .22LR Armi Jager AP80 and Walther G22, demanding that they surrender the rifles or face imprisonment for up to a decade or more. The move conveniently comes shortly before the Conservative government's Bill C-19 permanently dismantled the onerous long gun registry.
