The 22-250 is based on the 250-3000 Savage case necked down to .22 caliber and is so named because of the caliber (22) and the parent case (250). The only version of the Madsen sold in any quantity was the .30 caliber (.30-06). These were bought by Columbia. Biathlon has its roots as a training exercise in the Norwegian Army, and became an official Olympic event at the 1960 Games. Women’s biathlon was included in 1992. In the past 20 years, it has grown to become one of Europe’s most popular Nordic sports.
