1881 — William Wirt Winchester, the son of Oliver Winchester and Jane Ellen Hope, died in New Haven, Connecticut of tuberculosis. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven. Shortly after his death, his wife Sarah began expansion on the well-known Winchester Mystery House.
