List of MPs who flipped on C-391

On September 22, 2010, 16 "Honourable Members" of the Canadian Parliament turned their backs on the people who elected them and voted instead with their party elites.

Despite the overwhelming voices of common Canadians across the country, 16 Opposition MPs ignored the will of their constituents, reversed their previous positions, and voted to keep the canadian long gun registry in place.

Bill C-391, which would have put an end to the registry, was halted by a Liberal-introduced motion that "the House not proceed with the Bill." The motion passed by a mere 153 to 151. DO NOT forget the names of these MPs or what they did! This is especially important with the election coming up on May 2!

MPs who are running for reelection have the local CPC candidate listed because it is now perfectly clear that ONLY the Conservative party is willing to get rid of the registry.

  • Takes the "I did it because the Tories were mean to me" angle: "If the Conservatives think the only way to move legislation forward is putting a big-assed (attack) billboard in my riding, that's not how legislation is done in this country." Apparently hasn't noticed that the billboard only went up AFTER he flipflopped.
  • "I think the lesson here for the Conservatives is if they just took a few of the nice pills, if they just followed through on a few things, they might have what they want, but instead they aren't interested in working with anybody."[1]

  • Won his riding handily in the 2008 election, with 61.42 per cent of the vote.

Of those surveyed, an overwhelming 77% responded that they believed Glenn Thibeault did the wrong thing in supporting the long gun registry while only 23% believed it was okay for Thibeault to change his vote.
